Nucleus shield generators are a defensive technology developed by the Ercineans.
Origin
As befits a race more concerned with defence that confrontation, the Ercineans' shield tech is the most advanced in the galaxy. Nucleus generators are single-point emitters emplaced within the perimeter they defend, so external assaults cannot be facilitated by targeting the generator itself. It is not unusual for ercinean defensive emplacements to employ a collapsing concentric ring of shields, so that enemies must breach multiple defences to assault the defended position.
